Pre-LPS Pet Shop

I recently came across this mini pet shop labelled "My Own Pet Store". It is eerily similar to our LPS one. Its obviously much smaller, but the look and feel of it screams LPS. The front of it, the fact that it open up like a book, has a handle....And its dated 1989! Just a year or so before LPS was created. Was this a "prequel"? I'm wondering if this inspired the Littlest Pet Shop line. Has anyone else seen this? what do you think?

MTC is Multi Toys Corp. They had some original licenses but also made plenty of copycat toys.

I imagine the base mold is from another toy (1989) and was reused again. I'll have to look around to see which it might be, though.

As an example, here is a "book" style of playset toys from 1990 they reused several times:

Thanks zuse! I had a feeling you might know a bit of info on this!! Multi-Toys Corporation also came up in my search as well. I saw it abbreviated MTC also. But I couldn't find anything with the pet store or related items. Just lots of Wizard of Oz dolls etc. But I'll keep looking

Not certain what the case is from, but a very similar base mold playset case shape has been used in MTC's "Little Beauties" line of toys:
