Two years ago I had to pack up my collection when I sold my house and moved into a studio apartment. They've stayed packed away in the back of my closet ever since, except for the few times I pulled the boxes out to add in new finds. I didn't know when they would ever come out of storage again, as I have no plans to move to a bigger place anytime in the foreseeable future, but having some of my most prized possessions hidden away was bumming me out.
Well, I've decided enough is enough. I wasn't really utilizing the entirety of my bookcases, so I decided to turn the top half of them into display cases. This turned out to be a bit of a frustrating foray into DIYing since the new glass doors weren't designed to mount to my old IKEA bookcases. And since I live alone, it was also a fun challenge to hold/balance a glass door in one hand and screw it into place with the other.
But after a couple days work...success!!
I am beyond excited to spend the next few days unwrapping every carefully packed piece and deciding how to display them. I'm working with a bit less space than when I had them displayed in my house, but I'm going to try to make them all fit anyhow. This also means that my book buying habits will have to change for the time being, but that was a trade I was willing to make.
I'll be sure to take lots of pictures once everyone is settled in their new home!
